2024 Themes for Steam Plus

Pro Criminologist

Are you an aspiring crime scene investigator? Help solve this mystery of the crime of a diamond theft.  Crime scene investigators examine the physical evidence at the crime scene.  The science experiments will include:  (1) dusting & fuming for fingerprints (print lifting), (2) fingerprinting analysis, (3) chromatography & ink analysis, (4) a simulated blood type analysis (using simulated blood samples), and (5) Fiber analysis using a flame test.  This camp is recommended for ages 11 and older.   The program also includes PE, STEM Engineering challenges and daily integrated fine arts.

Pro Geneticist

Eye color, hair color, height, disease and even personality traits are affected by the genes passed on to you from your parents. Extract DNA from a strawberry. Explore the double helix geometry and learn about chromosomes and base pairs of the DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) macromolecule. Genetics is a fascinating field of science that you should know more about! The daily art projects reinforce the concepts of genes and phenotypes. Daily fine arts and PE make this an incredibly well-rounded STEAM camp for middle schoolers.

Pro Marine Biologist

Dissect a clam, squid, bony fish and dogfish shark in this amazing camp. Learn about the internal and external structures of each marine organism to better understand the adaptations for survival.  Create lovely works of art based on these amazing marine animals.

Pro Structural Engineer

This camp is perfect for the future engineer! Learn to build skyscrapers and bridges and appreciate the aesthetics and geometry of these engineering masterpieces. Explore key physics concepts such as load, force, compression and tension. Daily art projects will depict real-world examples of iconic bridges and skyscrapers. If you are interested in building and loved legos as a kid, this is the camp for you!
